Château Broustet, Great Classified Growth of 1855

Find out all about Château Broustet, Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855 in the Barsac appellation.

Located in Barsac, in the Sauternes region, Château Broustet and its 17 hectares in a single block form an estate owned by Mr. Capdeville in the early 19th century. At the same time, he bought the neighboring Château Nairac. The property then passed into the hands of the Fournier family, who took the initiative of setting up their own cooperage. The 225-liter Bordeaux barrel is said to have originated in Broustet, as confirmed by documents from the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce. Since 2010, this second Sauternes Grand Cru Classé en 1855 has been owned by Vignobles de Terroirs, part of the Taillan group. The typical gravelly vineyard allows Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle grapes to reach their full potential, reaching the much sought-after “full rot” stage in autumn, thanks to the action of Botrytis Cinerea, the noble rot. After a series of carefully orchestrated selections, the estate is able to produce elegant and, depending on the vintage, concentrated sweet wines.
