Château Canon, First Great Classified Growth of Saint-Emilion

Introducing Premier Cru Classé “B”, Château Canon in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation.

The name Château Canon is closely linked to Jacques Kanon, a frigate lieutenant and privateer in the Royal Navy under Louis XV, who acquired the property in 1760, when it was still the Domaine de Saint-Martin. It was at this time that he had the present château built. Then came Raymond Fontémoing and the Fournier family from 1919, before the latter sold the First Great Classified Growth “B” to the Wertheimer family (Maison Chanel) in 1996. The property and its 34-hectare vineyard, surrounded by walls right up to the gates of the village of Saint-Emilion, are located on the famous clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion, with a terroir of excellence. The Chanel group and its local teams, led by Nicolas Audebert, Managing Director of Chanel Vineyards, are committed to producing fine wines of great finesse and refinement, all in a timeless, timeless style - in short, in the image of the values conveyed by Chanel. 24 hectares are devoted to the grand vin, Château Canon, while the remaining 10 hectares are dedicated to the second wine, Croix Canon. Château Canon thus produces top-class wines that perfectly balance tannic structure, purity of fruit and generosity. Chanel also owns Château Berliquet in Saint-Emilion, Château Rauzan-Ségla (Second Cru Classé in 1855 in the Margaux appellation) and Domaine de l'Île in Porquerolles, all under the management of Nicolas Audebert since 2015.
