Château La Dominique, Great Classified Growth of Saint-Emilion

Explore Château La Dominique, Grand Cru Classé in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation.

Located to the north-west of Saint-Emilion, Château La Dominique and its 29 hectares stretch over a beautiful terroir surrounded by prestigious neighbors, Châteaux Figeac, Cheval Blanc and, on the Pomerol side, L'Évangile and La Conseillante. The winegrowing vocation of this Grand Cru Classé dates back to the 16th century. The estate was then called “Durieu”. But the estate was named “Dominique” in 1690, when it was acquired by Jacques and Isabeau Micheau, in reference to the island of Dominica in the West Indies. It was Clément Fayat, the Correzian entrepreneur who built an empire in the French construction industry, who bought the company in 1969. With energy and passion, he enlarged the vineyard and restructured the winery, while managing part of the vineyard organically. The estate also benefited from the advice of consultant oenologist Michel Rolland. With the help of his son, Jean-Claude, Clément Fayat restored the vineyard's lustre, even commissioning the famous architect Jean Nouvel to build a new winery, inaugurated in 2014, featuring a superb red terrace overlooking the vineyard and incorporating a top-of-the-range restaurant, “La Terrasse Rouge”. La Dominique is appreciated for its fruity, distinctive, complex and fine wines, perfectly reflecting the DNA of its terroir. On the death of Clément Fayat in July 2022, his children took over the business with the same philosophy: the quest for excellence. Clément Fayat also owns a Pomerol, Château Fayat, and two Haut-Médoc estates, including the Cru Bourgeois Supérieur Château Clément-Pichon and Château Aney.
