Learn more about Château La Tour Blanche, First Great Classified Growth in 1855 on the Sauternes appellation.

Located in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, in the commune of Bommes, Château La Tour Blanche is a wine estate founded in the 17th century. In 1855, the château was classified as a Sauternes Premier Cru Classé. After several owners, including Daniel Iffla (nicknamed Osiris), the latter decided to bequeath the property to the State, but on condition that a school for the vine and wine professions be created. In 1911, an educational establishment was opened, which today is the La Tour Blanche viticulture and oenology high school. The 43 hectares of vineyards are managed by professional vine and wine growers. The estate, which was undergoing organic conversion from 2021, has been certified organic since the 2023 vintage. The vineyard lies between the Ciron and Garonne rivers, on a single plot of land. Under the influence of the morning fog generated by the two rivers, botrytis cinerea, the noble rot fungus, can develop to produce sweet wines. La Tour Blanche wines combine a perfect balance of freshness and concentration, giving airy, unctuous mouthfeel without any heaviness; in other words, the prerogative of great Sauternes wines.
