Domaine des Lambrays, Great Burgundy wine.

Find out all about Domaine des Lambrays and its famous Clos des Lambrays in Morey-Saint-Denis, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy.

The Domaine des Lambrays is one of Burgundy's oldest and most prestigious vineyards in the Côte de Nuits. Located in Morey-Saint-Denis, this estate dates back to 1365, as indicated in the parish registers, then known as “Cloux des Lambrays”, in other words, “Clos des Lambrays. During the French Revolution, the Clos was divided between 74 owners, and it wasn't until the end of the 19th century that the famous 8.70-hectare parcel was reunited. In the 1930s, when the first Appellations d'Origine Contrôlée were created, Clos des Lambrays was only a Premier Cru. But the Joly and Rodier families, along with their descendants, worked to have Domaine des Lambrays recognized as a Grand Cru in 1981, adding to the ranks of Burgundy's 32 other Grands Crus. From 1976 to 2014, the estate was improved and achieved the sought-after quality in its wines. It was the Freund family who finally sold the prestigious estate to the LVMH Group in 2014. It's worth noting that the estate owns almost all of the Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru, on which, then managed organically and biodynamically, exceptional wines of great finesse are produced.
