Château Haut-Bailly, Classified Growth of Graves.

Discover Château Haut-Bailly, Classified Growth of Graves in the Pessac-Leognan appellation.

Located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, in the commune of Léognan to the south-west of Bordeaux, Haut-Bailly has been known for more than four centuries, but its reputation grew during the 19th century. Classified as a Cru Classé de Graves (producing only reds) in the 1953 Graves classification, Haut-Bailly produces elegant, well-balanced wines of incomparable style from its 30 hectares in a single block, which are at once delicate and powerful, yet extremely smooth. Managed since the early 2000s by Véronique Sanders, Haut-Bailly belonged to her family before they decided to sell it in 1998 to an American, Bob Wilmers. Fascinated by this property and its great terroir, the American owner increased investment to improve infrastructure, while pursuing a policy of demanding quality already recognized by his predecessor, Jean Sanders. This dynamic policy culminates in the latest works, delivered in the spring of 2021: a beautiful circular cellar and a circular vat room of exemplary functionality designed by architect Daniel Romeo, all enhanced by a 6-metre high garden designed by landscape architect Hervé Rosset, with a concern for perfect environmental integration to the point of being extremely discreet in the landscape. A harmonious and beautiful whole.
