Located at the highest point of the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation, on the Mondot hilltop at an altitude of 100 meters, Château Troplong Mondot began its winegrowing activities in 1700, when the château was built in 1745 by Abbé Raymond de Sèze, a leading Bordeaux family. In 1850, Raymond-Théodore Troplong bought the property and gave it his name, while taking advantage of the opportunity to expand the estate. In the 20th century, this Grand Cru Classé came under the flag of the Valette family in 1920. But the prestigious cru underwent considerable development when Christine Valette took over management in 1981. In fact, she elevated the château to the summit of the great wines of the Right Bank, earning it the rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé B de Saint-Emilion in the 2006 ten-year classification for the consistency of the wines produced from its 43 hectares. At the end of March 2014, its charismatic owner passed away and Saint-Emilion lost one of its finest personalities, she who had infused a recognizable signature into the wines with elegance and finesse. In 2017, Château was acquired by reinsurance group SCOR, which then entrusted management to Aymeric de Gironde, a transfer from AXA Millésimes (Pichon Baron, Petit Village, Suduiraut, Quinta Do Noval) and then Cos d'Estournel. With the help of his solid background acquired as General Manager of prestigious properties, he will bring a new breath of fresh air, while respecting the values and spirit of the place. In 2012, under the impetus of Christine Valette and her husband Xavier Parienté, the property also acquired a Michelin-starred restaurant, Les Belles Perdrix, a haven of peace and flavors dedicated to the excellence of unforgettable stays and in-house experiences.
